The Yellow Admiral or Australian Admiral, found in Australia and New Zealand, is a medium sized butterfly with a wingspan of approximately 50mm.
They are fairly common and widespread, though less abundant in tropical areas. The usual food plant for these butterflies is the stinging nettle, although they do visit a wide variety of nectar sources as well as sap runs on trees.
