$6.00

Acacia pycnantha - Golden Wattle card, Australian native plant. Floral Emblem of Australia.

Reproduced from an original watercolour painting by Cheryl Hodges. Greeting card 10 x 15cm, blank inside with brown recycled envelope.

Text on reverse of card reads:
Acacia pycnantha is the official floral emblem of Australia. The type specimen was collected by Charles Weston from Mt Jerrabomberra, Queanbeyan in August 1917. This painting is also from a specimen from Mt Jerrabomberra. The tree grows to 8m, and mature trees do not have true leaves but have phyllodes - flat and widened leaf stems. The phyllodes grow to 15cm long and there is a gland at the base. Each inflorescence is made up of 40-100 tiny flowers.
